How Are You Spending Your Time?

Just because you can find a way to fit a task into your schedule, doesn't always mean you should.

How often do you step back and take stock of how you’re spending your time?

Inevitably your days get filled with tasks related to work, family, chores, etc.

Some of your responsibilities are non-negotiable, others only feel that way.

The following are some questions that may help you take stock:

  • How often do you find yourself saying yes to requests that you are reluctant to take on?
  • Are these requests coming from other people, or do you find that you’re assigning yourself extra tasks?
  • Is there a pattern you notice about tasks for which you feel reluctant?
  • Do the tasks take away your time for self-care?
  • Are the tasks unfulfilling?
  • Do you take them on only because it’s harder to say no?
  • Why is it hard to say no?

It’s important to recognize the difference between negotiable and non-negotiable tasks and to protect your energy.
